Workshop – Landscape with Textiles and Stitching by Toni Major
Landscape with Textiles and Stitching
Participants will create a textile version of a favourite landscape photo using fabrics, fusible, stabilizer and thread painting, free motion stitching and/or hand-stitching and any desired embellishments. Materials are provided by participants
Supply List for Landscape Art Quilt Workshop:
Finished Piece: 8 x 10”
Need to bring:
For inspiration bring a favourite landscape photograph and/or sketch. Any season!
- the items already listed on the NHQG website for all workshops
- fabrics (commercial or hand-dyed) of nature’s many colours from your stash that would work for components of your photograph (use your imagination, colours do not need to match exactly and small patterned fabric work well!)
- stabilizer such as Pellon stabilizers (I like extra firm) or heavy interfacing (will be cut 10 x 12”)
- fusible such as Mistyfuse
- quilt batting if “puffier texture” desired
- glue stick (can be from dollar store) if desired, for temporary placement of fabric
- cutting mat and rotary cutter
- fabrics for backing and binding (optional, other methods of finishing will be discussed)
Embellishment options such as
- beads, wool rovings, felt bits, ribbons, yarns, buttons, threads
- anything that can be stitched or glued on
