Guest Speaker: Theresa Sonnenberg – Learning to Love Yellow

Theresa Sonnenberg is a life-long resident of Norfolk County. After 35 years as a teacher and school administrator, she retired in 2006 and began her quilting journey. She quickly realized how much there was to learn and began building her skills by taking workshops with such eminent teachers as Kaffe Fassett, Jane Sassaman, Elly Senkiewicz, Sue Spargo and Elaine Quehl. Years of work in her perennial gardens translated into bolder experimentation with colour in her quilts. An avid interest in auction sales led to collections of vintage fabrics, embroidery, ribbons, antique buttons and beading which became beautiful quilt embellishments. Her presentation “Learning to Love Yellow” documents this journey with more than 30 quilts, wall-hangings and other lovely projects with a few personal anecdotes tossed in to amuse and inspire you.
