Curved Piecing by Al Cote

Curved Piecing

In this workshop you will learn several techniques involving curved piecing,  half circles, pumpkin seeds, folded curves and undulating curves. You will ignore 1/4″ seems and cut freehand with your rotary cutter. You will create an art piece using horizontal and vertical curves.  Appliquéing trees, flowers, birds or whatever you like onto the completed background using a  fusible web of your choice. You will also learn how to finish your piece with facing including a sleeve of hanging.

Supply

Sewing machine in good working condition

Rotary cutter

Ruler (for squaring up)

Fusible wed (I like Misty Fuse)

Fabrics of your choice (solid, mottled, and quiet patterns work best)

Cutting mat

Thread for machines (ecru or grey work well)

Batting (I like to use Batilizer, but 80/20 cotton works well. NO puffy batting).
