Guest Speaker: Lorna Costantini – Modern Big Stitch Quilting
On October 22nd, we will welcome Niagara’s own Lorna Costantini.
Lorna’s presentation Modern Big Stitch centers around her beginning steps in quilting to creating modern quilts enhanced with Big Stitch Hand Quilting. If Big Stitch hand quilting is not in your basket of quilting skills, Lorna’s presentation will introduce you to the joy of this technique. You will have the opportunity to learn the basics and see these work in both traditional and modern quilts. She shares tools, materials, and hints for success that will get you started.
Lorna is a quilter, pattern designer and teacher located in St. Catharines, Ontario. She is a graduate of the University of Guelph with a major in clothing textiles and design. She is retired from selling houses and school board governance but never retired from a passion for all things fabric, thread, and yarn.
Designing children’s clothing, smocking, and knitting molded her career into pattern design. With a penchant for computer technology, she started designing her first pattern with a “Row by Row” pattern for Modern Bee in 2015 and has since built a business designing and selling quilt patterns. Her patterns and classes are often designed as a canvas for Walking Foot and Big Stitch Hand Quilting. Lorna is a founding member of the Niagara Modern Quilt Guild and served as the president in 2021/2022. Gramma to seven wonderful grandchildren and Mother to four equally wonderful children, she uses her quilting skills to keep them wrapped with love. Find Lorna’s shop online at lornacostantini.com
