The Niagara Heritage Quiters’ Guild Visual and Creative Arts Scholarship of $1,000.00 was established in 2012 by one of our founding members, Nina Stahlschmidt. The idea of the scholarship was a way of involving the guild in the Niagara community. Nina and a group of members organized a silent auction to raise funds during the NHQG Quilt Show at Niagara College May 18-21, 2011. Members donated items for the auction and we received monetary donations by members of the community.

The Niagara Heritage Quilters’ Guild is dedicated to the promotion of, and interest in, Fine Arts, Graphic Arts, Media Arts, Design, and/or Fashion and Clothing Design.

Scholarship Recipients

2025

The Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that Hannah Evans is this year’s winner of the Niagara Heritage Quilters’ Guild Visual and Creative Arts Scholarship 2025. Hannah is a graduate of Laura Secord Secondary School in St Catharines and will be attending Brock University this fall in the DART (Dramatic Arts) program, hoping to specialize in theatrical design. Hannah’s application included many textile art pieces along with glowing references and high academic standing. We felt, as a committee, that Hannah was a very worthy recipient of our scholarship

Our 2024 Scholarship recipient is Kayleigh Gillies

Kayleigh graduated from Lakeshore Catholic Highschool and will be attending Niagara College. She intends to study welding and metalworking in the Welding Technician Program. She chose this program to further her creative abilities and use it as a stepping stone in prop and set design.

Kayleigh is an outstanding student and is highly recommended for this scholarship by her visual arts teacher.

2023

Our 2023 Scholarship recipient is Sara Ewing. Sara is a graduate of E. L. Crossley Secondary School and will be attending Sheridan College Art Fundaments program.
Her top marks, various school and community activities, her interest in knitting, sewing, drawing, paining photography, digital and animation art are just some of the reasons she was chosen.
We wish Sara all the best in her future.

Our 2022 recipient is Ryen Payne.

She is a graduate of Governor Simcoe Secondary School and pursuing her eduction in Graphic Design at Niagara College.

2020

Above is a picture of our 2020 recipient, Krystyna Augustyn. She is a graduate of Notre Dame College School and is going to York University to pursue a degree in Design. She has b been a top scholar throughout her high school years and has had numerous positions of leadership. Krystyna is an outstanding student and we wish her great success in her future endeavours at York University and here career.
